As short as you can define it ->
Approval is a list of technical conditions that should be met by a vehicle or group of vehicles so that they can be registered and put into circulation.
Approval is the technical conditions specified for one vehicle or group that allow registration. Otherwise the vehicle cannot be put into traffic.
Simply put, we refer to the fulfillment of certain technical standards that allow us to use a given object / vehicle.
If there is no approval, the user is responsible for any damage or damages. The braking system, exhaust emissions, noise and some other things are examined and then the car is homologated.
Only approved technical units may do approvals. When issuing the approval, it is also checked whether the manufacturer also produces other cars of this type, whether it is an appropriate repeat series, and so on.
Colloquially, we use the term approval in the context of vehicles, i.e. in the context you are asking about.
It is that compliance is checked vehicle with current legal requirements. Only a new vehicle is subject to approval, prior to registration. The manufacturer or the representative applies for it.
European approval has been operating in Europe since 2007. It includes vehicles of categories M, N and O - passenger cars, trucks and trailers.
When approval is in one country, it is recognized throughout the EU. Approval is compulsory for such cars. This is laid down in Directive 2007/46 / EC.
