How to maintain order on the desktop?
I still get a mess on the desktop with icons. How to maintain order on the desktop? How do you care about the order on your computer, laptop or phone desktop? How to keep order?

In order to have an order on the desktop, I created folders that I attach to the taskbar on the main screen. I put all shortcuts into folders, and then when I expand the list, you can see them on the sliding bar. I don't have any icons on my desktop or anything except the recycle bin. Because I really don't like such crap. I regularly delete the files on it, or move it to drive D.
From time to time I do order and I also have folders with specific topics and I just put these things into folders and then I have order on the desktop itself.
What Dark Tempest says is helpful in keeping your desktop clean. Sliding lists with shortcuts that are on the taskbar instead of icons obscuring the image on the desktop make it much easier. The list opens and you can choose the program you want.
The second thing is what is on the desktop, it is on the C partition and if something happens, you will have to do the format, because you will not be able to run without this computer and if someone will not have how to connect the hard drive to another computer, then data will not recover. So important things should be sent either to the cloud or to another partition immediately.
I keep this way that I don't leave anything on the desktop. I move each shortcut to the right place. Windows 11 helps keep your desktop clean. Important shortcuts can be placed on the taskbar, and less important ones in the "start" list.
To keep your desktop tidy you have to be systematic and check what's there quite often. It's best to create folders where we group files from the same category. When we look for something, at least we'll know where it should be.
You only need to spend some time cleaning up your desktop from time to time. Take care of segregated folders. Throw what you need to them. Simply move non-essential files to the trash. It's also worth changing your wallpaper once in a while :)
Keeping your computer desktop tidy can significantly increase your productivity and work efficiency. Here are some tips that may help you:
- Folder organization: Creating folders for different projects or file types can help you stay organized. For example, you can have separate folders for documents, photos, music and movies.
- Deleting junk files: Regularly deleting junk files can prevent your desktop from filling up. If you no longer need the file, move it to the trash.
- Using shortcuts: Instead of keeping all your files on your desktop, you can create shortcuts to your most frequently used programs or files.
- Application of automation: There are tools and applications that can automatically sort the files on your desktop according to specific criteria such as file type, creation date, etc.
- Setting regular cleaning dates: just like with a physical desk, regularly cleaning your desktop can help keep things tidy. For example, you can set a reminder to clean up your desktop once a week.
- Maintaining minimalism: the fewer files and icons on your desktop, the easier it is to stay organized. Try to keep your desktop as blank as possible.
